One of the last Norfolk Southern grain trains from the Peavine branch line is westbound toward Sharon Yard which is north of Cincinnati Ohio. NS wanted to close this line but was forced to keep it open to Batavia Ohio. The section in this video was closed but then reopened by a short line railroad company who decided to lease it from NS. This line is now leased by Frontier Rail and operated by their Cincinnati East Terminal Ry. This section was closed for almost 11 months from April 25, 2014 until March 2015. The grain elevator in Winchester is the only customer using this section of the line other than car storage. CCET also services Huhtamaki on a section of this line west of here. This was filmed November 26, 2013 in the small historic village of Sardinia Ohio in Brown County. Trains pass through Sardinia about once or twice a week as needed. Tags added 6-13-17 with 580 views.
Update: Today this railroad is leased to Cincinnati Eastern Railroad CCET. CCET leases 69+ route miles of track.
