Today, we present the story of an architect from New York City and his choice of timepiece, the NOMOS Metro neomatik 41 Update.
While there is plenty here to explore about the Bauhaus movement itself, everything from buildings to a famous tea kettle, there is just as much to explore about this new Metro from NOMOS and its connections to the movement. The 41mm steel watch is perhaps one of the finest examples of form following function, where every single design choice on the watch was made with the utmost concern for its ability to be used functionally first and foremost. Everything from how rounded to make the sapphire crystal to the thickness of the wire lugs is accounted for in the design process, a kind of attention to detail you might not expect in the price point NOMOS plays in, but that's part of why they offer such a huge value. They bring some of the clearest examples of modern Bauhaus design into the mainstream watch space, and do so in an accessible way because they want people to truly experience these ideas and aesthetics, not just admire them from a shop window.
