Turning Japanese is the best-known song from The Vapors. The English power-pop-punk band performs their one-hit-wonder on Solid Gold, Hollywood, CA in 1980. The Vapors' lip-synced, mimed appearance is improved with enhanced HD stereo sound.
New wave song Turning Japanese reached #1 in Australia and #3 on the UK Singles chart but only #39 in the US. The Vapors songwriter David Fenton explains: "Turning Japanese is all the clichés about angst and youth and turning into something you didn't expect to."
