Russian Oil Price Cap
What's Going on With Shipping?
November 22, 2022
In this episode, Sal Mercogliano - maritime historian at Campbell University and former merchant mariner - discusses the looming G7/European Union price cap on Russian exported oil by sea and its impact on global maritime trade. At the same time, Russia is equipping a 'Ghost Fleet' to move its oil and seeking work arounds to the price cap. The leading oil companies all see the potential for windfall profits as ton-miles increase and the world faces the worst energy crisis since the 1970/80s.
