Poison Heart is a song by the American punk rock group The Ramones that was included on the album Mondo Bizarro (1992) album written by ex-bassist Dee Dee Ramone. Finnish band HIM recorded and released a version of the song as a B-side of their single Wings of a Butterfly, in 2005. The Japanese version of the Dark Light album also featured HIM's version Poison Heart by The Ramones.
Dark Light is the fifth album by the Finnish band HIM. Produced by Tim Palmer. This album was released on September 26, 2005 internationally and on September 27, 2005 in the US with a pre-release limited edition of 20,000 copies. The first single from the album was Rip out the Wings of a Butterfly, and the second single was Killing Loneliness. The album was on the chart of several countries and reached number 18 in the US and the UK. In Germany, it went up to number 4.
Dark Light is the first Finnish album to go gold in the United States, which means that it has sold more than 500,000 copies in the US, and 900,000 copies worldwide.
The lyrics of Dark Light are inspired by a Finnish book with the same title and a collection of ancient mythologies and religions (mainly Christianity). There are other songs on the album that also include mythological references. These are Rip out the Wings of a Butterfly, Venus (in Our Blood), Drunk on Shadows, and In the Nightside of Eden. Rip out the Wings of a Butterfly is a reference to a Greek myth in which two souls destroy something beautiful to live forever, and in "Venus (in Our Blood)" it is "Venus denies your seven towers" referring to another Greek myth in which hell is portrayed, in which seven towers emerge from the dark waters. In the song In the Nightside of Eden there is a line that says "and descend to the circle number four" a reference to Dante's Divine Comedy.
Estas son Rip out the Wings of a Butterfly, Venus (in Our Blood), Drunk on Shadows, y In the Nightside of Eden.
