Review (English is not my first language so pardon my incoherent-ness)
Overall I'd give this game a solid 9/10
As a Prince of Persia fan ever since I was a teenager mainly playing the Trilogy/2008/FS series on & off this was a very nice addition to the series, In this quick review I'm gonna be contrasting the game with the previous ones.
It's very different from it's predecessors as they made it a Metroidvania with a 2D Perspective there were some 2D-style games that was released in the series but this one is probably the best out of all of them. The only Metroidvania-adjacent style game in the previous ones that I can think on top of my head were Warrior Within (My favorite game of all time) & the 2008 reboot the rest were very linear. The combat in this game is amazing, it's very in depth and fluid kinda reminds me of the DMC series in a way were you can make creative combos with it. It's very different from the previous games as they were very grounded compared to this, maybe you could make the case for Warrior Within's combat but it was not as good as this one. One of the mainstays of the series was the platforming and this game did it justice, traversing in this game feels so good which is very needed for a Metroidvania, you also feel rewarded for actually exploring the map. The bosses were amazing they were not too easy nor too difficult just the right amount were you can have a challenge. The story was very good in a way where it keeps you engaged throughout the end, the main highlights of the story was probably Sargon's relationship with each of the Immortals and his interaction with the NPCs in all of the world, it makes the game feel more alive in a way where as in the older games there was a smaller cast of characters that the OG Prince has interacted with like Farah/Kaileena/Shahdee/Malik/Dahaka that made the game felt a lot more barren. There were some references from other games not just inside the series but for other games or shows, here are some examples: DMC (Vahram), GoW (Orod), HK (Kiana), Dragon Ball Father & Son Kamekameha (Rashnu's Judgement) and many other more that made huge influences in the game which I think is very cool and I think they respected them a lot considering how well they put in these subtle references/nods.
I was a bit surprised when they announced this game considering Ubisoft focuses their attention a lot on the Assassin's Creed series. It's cool too see that they are still giving the PoP series a little bit of love and attention with this game releasing and the upcoming SoT Remake. Here's hoping that they would make a Warrior Within Remake but I have a hunch that they're gonna do a soft reboot and retcon WW/TT which is very sad. I think Ubisoft did an amazing job with the game and they nailed it with this one. Probably GOTY contender or at least Metroidvania Of The Year contender.
