We all know that car prices increased a lot during the last year. Yet, we have also seen price stabilizations in many markets. This, however, doesn’t apply to the mid-engine Ferrari market. Prices for the F355, 360, F430, 458, 488, and F8 tributo all increased. Especially the latter three markets have a strong upward price trend as the price changes are statistically confirmed. Nevertheless, also the price trends in the F355, 360, and F430 are strong in comparison to the rest of the market. A comparison to the 911 turbo shows for example that the 911 trend is showing cracks.
Nobody knows for sure how prices will develop in the future, but the average time it takes to sell a car might give us an indication of the price direction. We can namely see that the average time to sell a mid-engine Ferrari decreased a lot during the pandemic but is now stable. Therefore, we can conclude that demand is no longer outpacing supply. Hence, one can question if the current price increase rate is sustainable.
