Location: Roaring River State Park and Hatchery
Winter trout fishing is in full effect at Roaring River. I had a blast on opening day spending most of my day in zone 3. I did play around in zone 2 for a short minute, but pulled out and ended up exploring below the old dam. Weather was around 36 degrees and the wind at times was brutal, the sun finally peeked out and helped warm things up.
At the time of this video the winter catch and release season begins the second Friday in November and ends the second Monday in February.
Fishing is from Friday thru Monday only. 8am to 4pm
Most of my day I was throwing dry flies, fish seemed to be really blowing up anything that moved. I caught over 50 fish in about 6 hours. A very successful day on the water.
