It's become a tradition to commemorate the anniversary of Dutch Marine Offences Act, that came into force on August 30th, 1974, on Channel 292, in partnership with Offshore History Radio.
The final 4 hours of the day of August 30th, 2021, according to Central European Time, were devoted to play a full recording of the last 4 hours of broadcasting of Radio Northsea International. Originally in service from 1968, like other pirates of the era, the station faced several difficulties which included its radio ship Mebo II, sailing from Dutch coast to UK's and back, frequency changes, jamming by UK Post Office, and even a hijack attempt. The station was already closed once at the end of 1970, but only for 5 months. The closedown on Aug 30, 1974, however, was definite.
Offshore History Radio is a project by Dutch pirate radio enthusiast André, who occasionally runs his own pirate radio station, Cool AM Radio. He also produces jingles for many pirate, as well as legal, hobby-catering, stations, including Channel 292.
The excerpt shown was recorded at 19:37 UTC Aug 30th, 2021, in NE Poland using an Airspy HF+ Discovery & a test flag antenna rather optimized for MW. 3955 was a good half a minute behind 6070, while the 3rd freq, 9670 kHz, was barely audible due to skip zone.
