Japan is the first and last country to suffer atomic bombings in the world. The United States dropped an atomic bomb on Hiroshima on August 6, 1945, and just three days later, on the 9th, on Nagasaki. A single atomic bomb killed 160,000 people in Hiroshima and 74,000 in Nagasaki. Hiroshima and Nagasaki each have a memorial museum to make the world aware of the dangers of atomic bombs. Hiroshima, an hour and a half from Osaka by bullet train, attracts many people from Japan and around the world every year to learn about the tragedy of the atomic bombing, and to pray for eternal peace at Peace Park.
