Even guitar heroes have heroes, and Paul Gilbert’s most recent release is a testament to the enduring quality of the iconic rock that underpinned the shred-maestro’s pioneering days with Racer X through to Mr. Big, solo work, and countless additional ventures. Aptly named, The Dio Album is Paul’s heartfelt tribute to the late Ronnie James Dio, covering works from Dio’s extensive catalogue including Rainbow, Black Sabbath, and more. There’s an interesting catch: it’s entirely instrumental!
