After a first glimpse that I managed to have of the McLaren Artura GT4 development mules last year at Monza Circuit, I was able to record it again in its final, customer version on the Italian track last week. In fact the English team Elite Motorsport was there with their new toy for a 2-days of testing organized by Kateyama.
Officially unveiled last year during the Goodwood Festival of Speed, the Artura GT4 is the successor of the McLaren 570S GT4. The street car uses an all-new 3.0-litre, 120 degrees, twin-turbocharged V6 engine paired with an electric motor to produce a combined output of 670 hp (with the combustion engine producing on its own 577 hp). As hybrid systems aren't allowed in the GT4 class so far, the race car has been deprived of the electrical part. The fitment of a compact V6 petrol engine and the use of a new carbonfibre monocoque lightweight architecture help to trim some 100 kg off the base weight of the previous V8-engined 570S GT4.
