Boston Mayor Michelle Wu celebrates the beginning of National LGBTQ+ Pride Month by hosting a kickoff event on City Hall Plaza. The City will be lighting up Boston City Hall in rainbow colors, which will remain lit for most of the month of June. There will be a flag raising and brief speaking program, which includes remarks from Mayor Michelle Wu, members of the City’s Office of LGBTQ+ Advancement, and LGBTQ+ community members about the commitment to equity and equality in Boston for all LGBTQ+ communities. There will also be live music provided by Boston Area Brigade of Activist Musicians (BABAM) and JP Honk Band. This kickoff event will also serve to amplify other Pride events being held throughout the month. Earlier this week, the Boston Transportation Department installed the City of Boston’s first permanent rainbow crosswalk at the intersection of Clarendon Street and Tremont Street in the South End to launch upcoming celebrations, events, and announcements for Pride Month.
