Taylor is a small town located about 40 miles NE of Austin, Texas. It has a long history and small town vibes and a population around 17,000. The downtown has some cool looking architecture and brick buildings with stores that serve practical purposes, like banks, sporting goods, office products and jewelers. You can find some cool looking murals walking around and of course some BBQ at Louie Mueller BBQ. There's also a mural for Mr. Bill Pickett for his bulldogging rodeo history. And Samsung is opening up a chip manufacturing building not far from the city center. Popular places for live music around the area include Black Sparrow Music Parlor, Texas Beer Company, and Loose Screw Beer Company. Ultimately I made it out to Walburg German Restaurant where Mike Mathis Sr. hosts Walburg Songwriter Wednesdays. Good times.
