Ukraine's President Zelensky narrowly escaped death from a horrific assassination attempt | Russia and Ukraine War Update

The news comes just days after the President visited the British Embassy in Kyiv to pay his respects to Queen Elizabeth II.

The President's Press Secretary warned his followers on social media that the President of Ukraine was in a car accident on Wednesday.

According to Sergii Nykyforov, the President was thoroughly examined by the ambulance doctor and found no serious injuries.

According to reports, the crash happened in Kyiv between two vehicles and the incident is under investigation.

The safety of the President is a top priority for Ukrainian officials after the Russian invasion and the threat of assassins plotting to kill Zelensky. This was supposed to be a Russian plot to assassinate the president of Ukraine, but it failed completely, as Mr. Zelensky escaped the accident safely.

Nykyforov posted on Facebook: “A car collided with the car of the President of Ukraine and the motorcade in Kyiv.

“Medics accompanied the head of state, assisted the driver of the emergency Legkovika and transferred [to] an ambulance.

“The President was examined by a doctor; No serious damage was detected”.

He added: "All circumstances of the accident will be discovered by law enforcement officers."

The incident came after the President, 44, visited the city of Izyum, which was recaptured during Ukraine's remarkable counter-offensive.

On Wednesday, the President thanked Ukrainian forces, who took part in the counterattack and oversaw a flag-raising ceremony.
