US Soldier Alvin York captured 132 German Soldiers single-handedly in World War 1
Corporal Alvin York was an American soldier who became one of the most decorated servicemen of World War I after an extraordinary act of heroism. During an offensive in the Meuse-Argonne, York and his men were tasked with taking a German machine gun position that was pinning down their unit. Outnumbered and outgunned, York managed to silence the machine guns and, in a remarkable display of marksmanship and bravery, captured 132 German soldiers single-handedly. His actions not only saved countless lives but also demonstrated the power of courage and leadership under fire. We salute Corporal York’s incredible valor and sacrifice in the face of danger.
