Alcohol and kidney disease aren't the best things for the overall health of the kidneys.
Overconsumption of alcohol will in general damage your kidneys. Generally, over time your kidneys will be damaged with alcohol. Regarding alcohol and kidney disease, it can cause all types of kidney damage. Robert suggests drinking lots of water if you plan on drinking alcohol. The kidneys in general shouldn't have to work harder especially if you are one with kidney disease. Alcohol causes changes in the function of the kidneys and makes them less able to filter the blood. To minimize kidney damage, drinking lots of water and keeping your antioxidants high will be very helpful in keeping your kidneys' healthy. Preferably keep the drinks clean or have pure types of alcohol like a wine without any types of mixers. Club soda or drinks that are on the rocks are also fine. Vitamin C and Vitamin E are very helpful in keeping your antioxidant levels high. Having these supplements before going out for drinks and being hydrated will help people with kidney disease significantly. Regular heavy drinking has been found to double the risk of chronic kidney disease, which does not go away over time. Even a higher risk of kidney problems has been found for heavy drinkers who also smoke. Smokers who are heavy drinkers have about five times the chance of developing CKD than people who don’t smoke or drink alcohol to excess. Later in the day or the morning after Robert suggests taking the supplements again. Overall, Robert suggests not to drink alcohol but if you do, take the necessary precautions.
