Many misconceptions arise due to the American interest in Channeling. Some of these mediums work without giving evidence of survival or any form of proof of the spirit communicator. Because of this both trance and channeling can be confused with unconscious fantasy and self-deception.

In the video, Craig explains the difference between mental mediumship and trance mediumship. He shows how the spirit can work through the mind of the medium or by making a physical presence using ectoplasm. He explains how trance mediumship is overshadowing and should be accompanied by proofs and evidence of the survival of the spirit after death.

This must not be confused with inspirational speaking and fantasy. He gives some examples of genuine trance mediumship that he has seen over the many years he has worked as a medium within British Spiritualism.
