Reporting from Bangladesh, Pulitzer Center grantee Greg Constantine discusses a web of issues faced by the Rohingya community—an ethnic minority group stripped off citizenship in Myanmar (Burma)—that exemplifies the consequences of statelessness worldwide. Constantine has been documenting the issue of statelessness for the past six years, exposing the impact the denial of citizenship and statelessness have on ethnic minorities around the world. His work emphasizes how citizenship is being used as a tool by governments to alienate particular groups of people, and the implications statelessness has not only on human security but also on the economy, national security and international stability.
