We were originally flying Air Canada from Toronto to Chicago, and then Air New Zealand from Chicago to Auckland but Air Canada cancelled our flight!
So very kindly, they flew us to Vancouver, then Auckland, but in Premium Economy, which would have cost over $4000 CAD at this last minute - thanks Air Canada!
Not included with Premium Economy but shown (thanks Star Alliance Gold) is the Maple Leaf Lounge. The lounge experience is just OK. The furniture is functional but not stylish, the shower is nice, with good amenities. But the food. It's just average at best. The transborder lounges between Canada and America seem the worst, and the domestic ones seem the best, but you'll get far better food in the restaurants outside the lounge than the food inside the lounge, which is a shame.
The Premium Economy seats feature a lot of legroom, and a little foot rest which I appreciated. The seats are wider, and have a very nice hard headrest. They also recline quite far which I appreciated. The entertainment system was large and functional.
But the food! Again the food was pretty terrible. The dinner service was a beef medallion, and I love beef and steak, and I couldn't even eat all this meat. It was gross. The breakfast was an omelet and that was a lot nicer, at least because I could finish eating it.
Overall, Air Canada - nice hard product, terrible catering.
