While I love dang near everything about my REP Fitness Ares, the low row capabilities have been underwhelming. Unless I'm strictly doing unilateral work, I rarely use the low row function.
I've found that the pulley height makes it difficult to use them in the single connection configuration because they tend to drag against my legs, which isn't very comfortable 😔
Fortunately, REP addressed and improved this in their V2 model, among several other updates, so it's no longer an issue! Unfortunately, this doesn't help me with my V1, so I set out to solve this problem myself and am quite happy with my solution!
I connect the two lower pulleys with a Bare Steel Equipment Iron Bridge, add a chain, attach my low row handle, and run a pair of knurled handles through the uprights. I then lower the back pad on my REP Ab-5200 2.0 so I don’t have to sit on the ground 😉 and get to work!
