In this short film I take a flight into the Alaska Range, step foot on Ruth Glacier, and get up close and personal with Denali, the highest mountain peak in North America.
For this flight, I was fortunate to get to sit right seat in our aircraft, a turbine powered DE Haviland Otter.
The flight was an absolutely incredible experience in so many ways. We departed out of Talkeetna, Alaska. As we climbed towards the northwest and into the heart of the Alaska Range, we passed towering solid granite rock formations that rose nearly 5,000 feet up from the base of Ruth Glacier.
Snow-capped granite spires stood like giant frozen sentinels guarding the gates of Denali, and its neighboring lower peaks - Moose’s Tooth, Mount Silverthrone, Mount Huntington, Mount Foraker, and Mount Hunter. The sight was just breathtaking against the cobalt blue sky above and behind the peaks.
It was an adventure of a lifetime, and I would recommend one of these sightseeing flights to anyone.
