The most noticeable change in the 2025 Volkswagen Jetta is the updated front-end styling. Compared to the 2024 model, the new Jetta sports a much smaller grille. This design shift reroutes much of the cooling to the egg crate section at the bottom of the bumper. The result? A sleeker and more harmonious look that aligns with other Volkswagen models in the US, such as the Tiguan and Atlas.
Adding a modern touch, a new light bar graces the front of the higher-end trims, perfectly complementing the overall design. While this light bar is optional at the front, the rear light bar comes standard across all trims. The rear end also features larger taillight modules, emphasizing the Jetta’s width and giving it a contemporary appearance. The bumper’s lower portion has been redesigned to add a touch of sophistication.
The 2025 Jetta introduces new alloy wheels: 17-inch wheels for the SE trim and 18-inch wheels for the SEL and GLI trims. There's also a black wheel package available for the SE and GLI trims. Additionally, the trunk lid is new, representing the only sheet metal change for this refresh, as the doors, roof, and hood remain the same.
Under the hood, the standard Jetta features a 1.5L turbocharged four-cylinder engine, paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. This transmission choice is unique in the segment, offering a smooth and reliable driving experience similar to many Toyota and Lexus models. However, the six-speed manual transmission is no longer available for the regular Jetta, a decision driven by low demand.
For those seeking a sportier performance, the GLI model stands out with its fully independent multi-link rear suspension, compared to the torsion beam suspension of the regular Jetta. This gives the GLI better handling and a more refined ride quality, making it a compelling choice for enthusiasts.
