One of the most daunting decisions any physician makes is deciding which specialty to go into. Unlike some other medical professions, being a physician entails a lot more time and training commitment to specialties making it a fairly cumbersome task to switch. There is also an element of the sunk cost fallacy where many physicians believe they cannot switch due to the amount of time already dedicated and continue their careers in a specialty they ultimately do not enjoy. This conversation helps to encourage and spark conversations about career mobility within medicine for physicians.
