The six gold medals in men's freestyle wrestling presented at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio were divided between athletes from Georgia, Turkey, Iran, USA and Russia. The winner in the 57 kg category was the Georgian wrestler Vladimir Hinchegashvili, in the 74 kg category the Iranian wrestler Hassan Yazdani (who defeated the Russian Aniuar Geduev in a thrilling bout), in 86 kg the Russian wrestler Abdulrashid Sadulaev, in 125 kg the Turkish wrestler Taha Akgul, in 65 kg the Russian wrestler Soslan Ramonov, and in 97 kg the American wrestler Kyle Snyder.
