The EU police agency Europol says more than 10,000 unaccompanied migrant children have disappeared in Europe during the past 18 to 24 months. Europol's chief of staff Brian Donald says the vulnerable children disappeared from the system after registering with state authorities following their arrival in Europe. The disappearances include 5,000 children in Italy alone. Many of the missing children are feared to have been whisked away into sex trafficking rings or the forced labor.
