Active Physical Therapy Celebrates National Athletic Training Month | Scott Corkin, Athletic Trainer
Scott Corkin, ATC is seen here celebrating NATM 2019. Here's what he has to say about National Athletic Training Month:
"My name is Scott Corkin, and I've been an Athletic Trainer for 24 years. I've been working with Ishpeming High School for the past 13 years. I think we're a really important part of the healthcare system, probably one that's not really known as well. We get to see these student-athletes literally seconds after they're injured, which I think is a big advantage for us to be able to diagnose certain injuries, and then we are able to steer them in the right direction, be it to their primary care doctor, a specialist, whatever they may need at that point. My favorite thing about being an Athletic Trainer is working with the kids! Getting to see them come in as a fresman and watching them develop, seeing how good they become as seniors, and then working with them as they get injuries. Seeing them being down at their lowest with an injury, and being able to come back and play, to do the things they want to do!"
