'Sunrise' the first single fieldlily released in collaboration with Wildwood Kin.
Song inspiration: There’s something so beautiful about sunrise. A new day that holds new possibility. In the midst of pain, anxiety and worry for the future I (Beth) wrote this song early Feb 2021 about these things, and how I took comfort in knowing that even in the darkness of the night, there is always hope to be found.
It’s about holding on to the constant things in life that we know won’t let us down, and where warmth and life is always found.
Writing the song helped me process a lot of emotions and was a celebration of coming out the other side of fear (mostly of the dark) and finding that through my faith, even in the hard and dark places of life, beauty can be found and that I am held and safe.
We woke up at Sunrise to film something and it was just bleak and cold and rainy. We filmed something anyway and realised actually this is quite a good representation of what the song is about. Even when it's bleak and you can't see the light, you can still find joy as you wait. I think the repetition also is symbolic of how during those months in lockdown it did just feel like each day was the same and you couldn't really discern one day from another day, so we kinda accidentally portrayed part of the meaning of the song without being intentional..
With the shorter days ahead and the often winter bleakness, we know this season can be really hard for many people, which is why we hope this song might be an anthem of hope for people over the next few months and beyond.
