Testing the Canon R5 with my favourite vintage lens, the Super Takumar 50mm 1.4 8E.
Shot in C-Log 3 with basic grading leaning on the reds.
4K & 8K footage.
- Super-Takumar 50mm 1.4 / 8 element version.
- Fotasy m42-eosR adapter
- Variable nd filter
The 4K footage dropped into FCPX was not problem to playback or edit. Unfortunately the 8K footage had errors and wouldn't export and crashed. I had to eventually transcode the 8K footage to pro res.
Ambient Guitar recorded in Logic X.
The IBIS is very impressive for shooting with manual lenses. The peaking for focusing isn't the best. I found it hard to see even after switching colours and setting to high. Definitely not as good as the BMPCC 4K or the Fujifilm system, but more accurate than my Sony A7S2 in my opinion.
I am very comfortable shooting with this camera as it feels like the 5DM2 where my video journey began.
