"글로벌 전기차시장 선도" 현대차그룹, 美 조지아공장 기공식
South Korea's largest automaker, Hyundai Motor Company,... has broke ground on its massive electric vehicle plant in the United States.
The ceremony took place on Tuesday in Georgia,.. where construction of the new plant will start in the first half of next year.
Hyundai Motor Group's Chairman Chung Eui-sun attended the event,.. and emphasized the plant will become the world's best EV production facility.
Commercial production is expected to begin in 2025,.. with a capacity of 300 thousand units a year from Hyundai Motors, Kia, and Genesis.
U.S. President Joe Biden welcomed the news and highlighted Hyundai's commitment to invest more than 5 billion U.S. dollars in the facility as well as the creation of more than 8-thousand jobs.
Meanwhile, South Korea continues to demand a revision to the U.S. Inflation Reduction Act,... which exempts EVs manufactured outside North America from tax credits.
