During his time as a student with Arnold Schönberg, Alban Berg composed many sketches for piano. He turned them into the Sonata, opus 1, one of his first 'mature' works. Subscribe here: [ Ссылка ]

Although he intended to write more movements to complete the sonata, Berg was unable to create more musical material. Schönbergs reaction to this was as simple as it was effective: "In that case, you've probably said everything there is to say". The arrangement for string orchestra by Wijnand van Klaveren was commissioned by Amsterdam Sinfonietta and also features on their newest album 'Lento Religioso'.
