Welcome everybody to this week's watercolour tutorial! It's Morgaine here, today I'll be painting these dramatic red-crowned cranes against a loose, impressionistic watercolour background.
Equipment list: Millford brand cotton watercolour paper, size a quarter imperial or 28cm x 38cm, weight 140lb/300gsm. Colours: Indigo, Cerulean Blue, Raw Sienna, Sepia, Lamp Black, Winsor Red, Light Red, & White Gouache. I also use Pebeo brand drawing gum and regular table salt. Brushes: Escoda Ultimo Evolution 1933 synthetic mop brush size 20; Princeton Neptune synthetic round size 4; Matthew Palmer Tree & Texture brush size Large; Pro Arte Sword liner size Small; Pro Arte Masterstrokes Series 60 miniature brush size 10/0; Daler Rowney Aquafine Skyflow 2 inch wash brush; and a Daler Rowney Aquafine fan brush size 2.
