Shown in the video here is Crown Bolt heavy duty diamond braid polypropylene rope. Made of poly and poly blends (mixed synthetic core). The label states that it has superior strength, is mildew and rot resistant and holds knots firmly. Specifications are as follows: 157 lbs. working load limit (71.2 kg.) / 1/4 in. x 100ft (6.4mm x 30.5m). Made in China. The warnings on the back of the tag are many and quite lengthy. It advises to avoid knots saying that splicing is preferable because rope knots can reduce strength of the rope by up to 50%. The product is not meant for overhead lifting, support of human weight or athletic equipment. It further warns that the load weight specification should never be exceeded. Also, the label warns that working loads can reduce by 33% when under conditions of shock. Recoiling and "airplane-ing" are also discussed. Lastly, notes about replacing if signs of wear occur is suggested.

Many of the cheaper, all-purpose rope for sale are some kind of synthetic fiber from nylon rope to polypropylene rope as seen in the video here. Most of the rope that is found at home stores won't be rated for climbing. Definitely visit an outdoors sporting goods store for this type of specialized climbing rope. Other specialized rope types include nautical rope or marine rope as well as synthetic winch rope and paracord. Nautical or boat rope is very durable made of UV resistant material and can withstand different weather conditions for prolonged time periods. So are even made to float in water. Popular fibre types for this application include polyester, nylon, polypropylene, kevlar and dyeema rope materials.

The most important thing is to find out the best ropes for the use. For instance, some rope are better for rope knots as the braided rope is produced in such a way to facilitate this characteristic.
