New Finns/ Migrants,Newly arrived are always thankful to their host community, Espoo and want to" Pay back"" I am a 51 yrs old mother of two adult children. Came to Finland in 1985 to study Educational Science at the University of Helsinki. I have lived longer in Finland more than in Nigeria where I was born.Since 1994, I have worked on issues that have Multicultural content, at the University of Helsinki my first workplace in Finland. I was training teachers of all levels of Education, social workers and health professionals on the different cultures and adaptation into a new culture. How to receive children of colour into the classroom.
In my work I plan curriculum that includes a multicultural content using art education as the tool for children from 3 - 15 yrs old. So that the young children can gain the too to live in our global village when they are adults. We say "catch them young".
I have sat as board member to several organisations (more than five) that promote different cultures and want to propagate positive values that different cultures bring to peace and living together in Finland(tolerance)
I am a Candidate for Election under Kokoomus. The goal is to enter the Espoo Municipal Board. The city board is made up of 67 members. Their task is to decide annual budget and manage the strategic policies of the City. In Espoo, there are 38.5% migrants, but there is no migrant background council member at the Espoo board.
