(20 Feb 2019) Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov on Wednesday accused the US of "direct intervention" in Venezuela.
Speaking at a joint news briefing with Zambian Foreign Minister Joseph Malanji in Moscow, Lavrov also accused the opposition, lead by Juan Guaido, of "supporting and instigating this external interference."
He said the US was ignoring diplomacy.
Russia is an ally of Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro, who is under challenge from Guaido in a resurgence of the country's political crisis.
Guaido has been rallying international support for his challenge to Maduro and calling for international emergency aid.
Lavrov's comments came as Russian news agencies reported that a shipment of Russian medicine and medical equipment has arrived in Venezuela.
