Wonder how much is a doctor visit in Mexico? Mine cost $2.50 US at my nearest pharmacy. Medicine in Mexico is very different than the US. There are doctors associated with most pharmacies that can do simple procedures and prescribe medications.
When I got an infection in my toe, I took my camera to the nearest doctor for my visit so that you could follow along.
The doctor spoke English pretty well. I've heard that these pharmacies typically employ fresh out-of-school doctors, but mine looked more like retirement age.
For something as simple as a skin infection, I'd definitely visit this doctor again. But if you have a broken bone or more serious ailment, you'll need to visit a hospital. Luckily I haven't had to do that yet, so I cannot share any experience.
This is my experience in the Baja, but it's probably typical across Mexico. So if you're an ex-pat or snowbird living in Mexico, you're probably well covered for simple medicine.
BTW, most medications can be purchased from a pharmacist, but antibiotics are more heavily regulated than in the US.
