The Solution to this Problem for us was to go to Settings in our iPhone and change the location permission to "Always." The time stamp to show steps is at 2:39
Here are the other two solutions that Tesla provided us over the phone:
Power Cycle Reboot:
Make sure the car is NOT plugged into a charger, parked safely
all doors closed (open a window if it is hot) you are in the drivers seat
remove any USB's that are plugged in
touch the car icon (controls) in the lower left hand corner if the touch screen
go to safety and security
power off (it will ask you if you are sure, say yes)
once the car goes dark, no lights, no fan blowing etc. , set your timer for 3 full minutes
it is critical that you sit absolutely still for the duration
DO NOT: open the door, touch the brake pedal or move the steering wheel
after 3 minutes, tap the brake pedal and/or open the drivers door, this will wake the car back up.
Scroll Wheel Reboot:
push both scroll wheels in on the steering wheel, the screen will go black,
keep holding until the Tesla "T" comes up on the center display , then release. No need to put your foot on the brake pedal.
