Classic Game Room presents a CGR Undertow review of Downtown Special - Kunio-kun no Jidaigeki da yo Zennin Shuugou! for Nintendo Famicom developed and published by Technos Japan.

Take River City Ransom. No, not bits and pieces of it, the whole thing, from the shops to the brawling to the crazy attacks to more brawling and then all the rest of the brawling... and drop it into 18th century Japan. That's what you're getting from Downtown Special - Kunio-kun no Jidaigeki da yo Zennin Shuugou!, which might as well just be called "River City Ransom 2: Period Piece Boogaloo." Unfortunately, being a jidaigeki (period drama), it never actually made it to the States, leaving this heap of BARF and suckerpunches lost to the years... until now.
