DESCRIPTION: In this video, we have covered the history of industrial revolution in England, also it's merits and demerits along with its effects on India. Initially, we have discussed the causes of the Industrial Revolution. Some important causes are Geographical Position of England, an abundance of Coal and Iron, Entrepreneuring ability of British entrepreneurs and the last but not the least main cause was Inventions. From 1780 to 1860 there was a huge improvement in machinery and a number of inventions took place in the textile industry, transport, and communication fields. inventions like flying shuttle, spinning jenny, the steam engine, and communication devices took a revolutionary change in the industrial field.
Merits of the industrial revolution were, urbanization|( created cities and urban centres in England e.g. Manchester & Birmingham), machinery(the introduction of the power industry rapidly increased the production of goods, and also it created large employment.
Demerits: it created a number of new social problems like accommodation, sanitation & health, harassment of women and children, capitalism(money concentrated in the hands of a few people), growth of colonialism(as Britishers were getting the raw material for industries from their colonies, so it leads to the growth of colonialism).
Effects of the Industrial Revolution on India: this revolution was not less than a curse for India, it spoiled the market of Indian workers.
