This film, narrated by actor William Marshall, chronicles the lives of three prominent black spokemen of the early twentieth century, Booker T. Washington, W.E.B. DuBois and Marcus Garvey. Using rare photographic stills, this documentary examines the divergent paths of Washington who fought for economic equality, DuBois who believed that only by protest would blacks gain equality, and Garvey, who despairing of fair treatment in America, called for a mass return to Africa
