The Black Comipel Horsebutt Bastion Oxford is an updated version of a regal dress style designed by company founder Edwin Viberg and produced in the 1960's to mirror English Balmoral styles commonly associated with formal wear. Staying true to the original half-century old vision, this shoe is crafted with the clean improvements of a folded cap toe, elegant facing with French binding, and a refined throat line paired with a single, low quarter panel that provides a gripped fit with sleek lines. This new and limited release of the Bastion Oxford comes in a highly finished, drum dyed Black Horsebutt from Comipel Tannery in Italy that is known to produce some of the finest horse hides in the world. This leather is vegetable tanned to maintain the natural feel of a hide with inherent shell-like qualities and structure that will mold to the foot with fortitude while maintaining a dramatic, unique grain character and color through heavy wear. For this limited Division Road exclusive, we adapted a Viberg seasonal release for a semi-dress composition balanced with a robust build. Our Oxford is molded on the 2020 Cantilever Last that grips and hooks with the anatomical shape of the foot to provide a comforting fit in a sophisticated silhouette. Furthered with an officer-dress disposition, this style boasts black leather French binding, blind eyelets, and a black leather 270 flat welt and midsole atop a British-made Ridgeway sole to provide lug traction in an elegant design. Setting the bar even higher, the Black Comipel Horsebutt Bastion Oxford leverages Goodyear welting using traditional techniques coupled with channeled insoles produced by Viberg's exacting craftsmen, resulting in a piece that will last a lifetime with distinguished style and next-level refinement.
