While we just profiled Aquarius in our Shore Dive Collection series, we visited many other sites in August and captured some amazing experiences and first time captures. From squid and moon snail eggs to seahorses and pipehorses, these are some of the best encounters we had last month. There was a school of blue parrotfish, free swimming green moray eel, flying gurnard and a sea snail called a music volute. Plus, there were lots of juveniles, some of which look very different as adults. We even saw a tiger tail sea cucumber…moving!
Keep in mind, these are just clips from August. It’s basically proof that there’s an opportunity to see something new and exciting on every dive. We can’t wait to see what September has in store for us! Let us know what you see in the comments section below.
UNCOMMON SEA LIFE AND FIRST TIME CAPTURE IDENTIFICATION
We primarily use two sources to validate sea life we don’t recognize. The first is Florent's Guide To TheTropical Reefs which can be found at [ Ссылка ]. Its free and has lots of pictures, but is not comprehensive. The second is “The Reef Set: Reef Fish, Reef Creature and Reef Coral (3 Volumes)”. The box set can be found on Amazon; however with all our travels, we also purchased the eBooks ([ Ссылка ]) so we don’t have to carry an extra five pounds of paper in our luggage. :-) We also reference other sources from time to time as well.
