I geek out over old coleman lanterns and stoves, especially the white gas variety. I don't know why, maybe its how quiet they are compared to propane, or maybe it's the fact that they haven't changed for almost 100 years. The problem with the mantles you get from Coleman today, is that they aren't very good or bright. This is due to the fact that they don't contain a radioactive element called "thorium". I discovered Peerless brand mantles that are manufactured oversees, and do contain this element. We test them out and see how they compare.
