Cabildo carried out work on the construction of the existing road to Punta Blanca, between the cores of Alcala and Varadero, in the municipality of Guia de Isora. This event is included in the MEDI-FDCAN program in Tenerife el Mar.
The footpath is 1.6 km long. The construction of this pedestrian zone has not yet been completed.
The activities planned under this new tender include the adaptation of a sports track adjacent to the waterfront of the existing road in Punta Blanca; access to the beach through a paved ramp; construction of three viewing platforms located along the embankment; restoration of the road environment and strengthening of the breakwater.
The Tenerife y el Mar program includes a total of 176 activities on the island's coast, which will require a global investment of € 65 million in ten years. The aim of this initiative is to highlight the special characteristics of the Tenerife coastline in order to enhance its attractiveness.
Actions of Tenerife and the sea are carried out in 28 municipalities of Tenerife, the coastline of which mainly consists of puddles, porches or coastal paths, which can thus also be used as a tourist resource.
Given the physical and landscape configuration of the coastline, with many “microlandscapes” and landlocks that are usually rugged, the goal of the Cabildo program is to appreciate these unique characteristics through concrete actions that respect the environment.
