Are Buddha, Krishna, and Christ the same? Its one of the most common questions I get asked. It's obvious these are not equivalent ideas… But they share very particular similarities… Recently it’s become popular to point out these similarities as a form of critique. People say, Jesus, Buddha, Horus and all of these pagan gods were all born on December 25th, they were all born of virgins, they were all baptized but this is absolute rubbish. Christ, Buddha and Krishna do share similarities but their not what these critics claim. The Buddha was born on May 12th and Buddha was not born of a virgin, he was born from his mother’s side at the level of the heart they say. Neither was Horus born of a Virgin, Horus was born from his mother Isis after she conceived by copulated with the corpse of Osiris. Nor was Horus ever crucified, nor did Horus ever die nor was Horus ever raised from the dead. Osiris was killed by his brother Seth after being locked in a sarcophagus and thrown into the Nile, Osiris’ body floated down the river to eventually rest on the shore of Syria where it grew up inside of a tree. Attis a death and resurrection god of fertility was born of a virgin but was never crucified. Krishna was not born of a virgin, in fact, he was the 8th child of his mother Devaki. As for Dionysus, he was not born of a virgin, Dionysus was born of Semele and Zeus but completed his gestation in the thigh of Zeus after Semele’s untimely death. Dionysus was killed and resurrected but he was not crucified, he was torn into little pieces by the Titans.
That being said, we do see mythological parallels through many different spiritual traditions.
