In this video, Sinead, a tour guide with Free Tours by Foot London, takes you on a virtual climb to the top of and inside of the Marble Arch Mound. Other London Virtual Tours - [ Ссылка ].
The idea behind the Marble Arch Mound was to create a viewing platform 82 ft. (25 m) high, built over scaffolding covered with sedum, turf, and a number of trees. The project was commissioned by Westminster City Council hoping to boost domestic tourism in the area but also to help speed up the return of shoppers to the Oxford Street area after the Covid-19 pandemic lockdown ended.
Originally having a cost of £8 per adult, the Marble Arch Mound drew lots of criticism, complaints, and requests for refunds. It is now free to climb. If you do, you will be afforded a unique view of central London overlooking Hyde Park and Speakers Corner as well as Marble Arch itself.
You will then descend down into the scaffolding to see the Lightfield, a light exhibit from Anthony James Studios. Lichtfield consists of cubes connected via ethernet cables, which stimulate the interconnected root structure of a birch tree forest (whatever that means :)). It's really kewl.
