By 1971, rising insurance premium pressure and government regulations were beginning to affect the performance of Muscle Cars, with GM and Ford beginning to cut power output of their larger engines. Dodge and Plymouth held out for one year longer, and continued to offer their entire engine lineup without modifications in every performance model from the 'Cuda and Challenger to the newly redesigned for '71 Charger and Road Runner. Buyers of these 1971 models could still order the iconic, out of this world colors along with the most potent Muscle Car engines to come from Detroit.
This 1971 Dodge Charger R/T is the only one to have the B7 Blue exterior paint, with white interior and a fire breathing 426 Hemi engine under the hood. This car was offered at a recent Mecum Auction, but because Tim and Pam Wellborn love this car so much, they would not lift the reserve on it that would have allowed a sale to the high bidder without reaching their preset reserve price. So the car returned home with them, and they couldn't be happier to have kept it in their collection. Not only does it have a unique color combination, but it is highly optioned as well with power windows, power disk brakes, floor shifted automatic transmission, and rare Ram Charger hood. This is the best driving example of a Hemi Charger you could experience.
