What Do We Think?
This is a versatile pickup pairing and one that makes particularly good use of the Eastern Maple top and Spanish Mahogany body. This guitar acoustically has a really nice lower midrange resonance that adds wonderful body to every note. The Lollar Mini Humbucker in the neck has a nice blend of signature creamy humbucker tone combined with a tight bass response and clear pick attack.
The middle position maintains the deep character of the guitar along with a little more snap and immediacy to the upper register. It exhibits a slight quack that can be very useful in covering parts you might typically reserve for a single-coil guitar.
The Lollar Imperial in the bridge is incredibly reminiscent of a Les Paul with all the woody midrange growl you get out of a nice vintage example. The bottom end extends deep enough to fill out thick rhythm tones before rolling off. The top end is likewise tapered off at the sweet spot. Without delivering extraneous top end, it cuts where you really need it.
