02-AUG-2021. A Delta Air Lines Airbus A321 (A321), registration N114DN, performing flight DAL2309 / DL2309 from Boston Logan International Airport, MA (USA) to Atlanta Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport, GA (USA) was at 36000 feet, about 50 miles west of New York when the pilots declared an emergency, reported about smoke indication in aft lavatory and requested to divert to New York Kennedy International Airport.

COMMENTS: Delta 2309 was proceeding to Atlanta at altitude 36000 feet when the pilot called controller.

DAL2309: Hey, need to change our destination. We're gonna divert to JFK. We’re gonna declare an emergency at this time for a possible lav fire. Out flight attendants looked in it but they don’t see anything at the moment but we do wanna divert to JFK.

DAL2309: Hey, we’re making a left turn to JFK now, Delta 2309.
CENTER: Delta 2309, can you make the right turn or you wanna go left towards Kennedy right now?
DAL2309: We’re already in left turn now.

DAL2309: We’ve got a master caution for an aft lav smoke but we’re unable to figure out what the cause is. We do not have smoke or anything in the aircraft at this moment but just for a safety we do need to divert to JFK.

HOW I DO VIDEOS:
1) I monitor media, airspace, looking for any non-standard, emergency and interesting situation.
2) I find communications of ATC unit for the period of time I need.
3) I take only phrases between air traffic controller and selected flight.
4) I find a flight path of selected aircraft.
5) I make an animation (early couple of videos don’t have animation) of flight path and aircraft, where the aircraft goes on his route.
6) When I edit video I put phrases of communications to specific points in video (in tandem with animation).
7) Together with my comments (voice and text) I edit and make a reconstruction of emergency, non-standard and interesting situation in flight.
