On November 21st, 2023, 33-year-old Hilary Brown went into cardiac arrest while her husband, Dr. Benjamin Brown, 41 was performing a small procedure on her. She was rushed to the hospital and died on November 28th, 2023. Court records show that Hilary was was scheduled to undergo a miniature muscle plication/abdominal scar revision, bilateral arm liposuction, lip injections, and ear adjustment procedures, and that her husband had asked her to prepare her own local anesthesia. She allegedly also took several multi-colored pills, including valium. Some of the pills she had taken were documented by Dr. Brown, while others were not. Dr. Brown injected more lidocaine into her face, which is when she said her vision became blurry and she was seeing orange; she then had seizures and went into a coma.

Dr. Brown waited 10-20 minutes to call 911, denying concerned medical staff permission to call for help. On June 17th, 2024, Benjamin Brown, whose medical license had been restricted, was arrested and charged with manslaughter. Other patients have come forward to share their stories of botched procedures done by Dr. Brown in the past. He had pleaded not guilty and has been released on a $50 000 bond from the Santa Rosa County Jail.
